MG Comet EV unveiled in Delhi

For the urban commute

It’s official, folks! MG Motor India has finally released the highly-awaited Comet EV, and it’s electrically charged! The Comet EV is the second EV offering from the manufacturer, after the ZS EV. It’s said to be based on the GSEV platform, and production has already begun at the Halol plant in Gujarat. The release date is at the end of April 2023, so start marking your calendars.

The Comet EV is no shrinking violet, measuring 2,974 mm in length, 1,505 mm in width, and 1,640 mm in height, making it a good-sized electric hatchback and not too obtrusive either. Perfect for those tight parking spots and manoeuvring through heavy traffic. The boxy design boasts an enclosed grille, MG badging, LED headlamps with DRLs and tail lamps. Plus, it’s got a cool dual-colour roof option.

Inside, the Comet EV comes equipped with a dual-screen setup, 10.25in infotainment system, 10.25in digital instrument cluster, a two-spoke steering wheel with controls, ambient lighting, and rear parking sensors. Safety features include dual front airbags, ESC, tyre pressure monitoring system, reverse parking camera, ABS with EBD, and ISOFIX child seat anchors.

Under the hood, the MG Comet EV is powered by a 7.3 kWh Lithium-ion battery, with a range of 230 km on a single charge. It also features a rear-axle-mounted electric motor that produces a peak power of 41 hp and max torque of 110 Nm. It can be fully charged in around 7 hours using a 3.3 kW AC charger, or even at home using a 16 AMP socket.

All this for an expected starting price of ₹10 lakh? That’s a pretty good deal! The Comet EV is sure to give the Tata Tiago EV, Tigor EV, and Citroen eC3 a run for their money.
