Nikon ZR is a full-frame camera co-developed with RED Digital Cinema

The lightest Z Cinema model, the cam supports 32-bit float audio

Nikon’s latest ZR is a full-frame sensor camera and the most lightweight option in the Z Cinema series, tipping the scales at 540g (body only). Priced at Rs. 1,86,995 (Body Only), the ZR also makes its mark by debuting R3D NE, an exclusive recording format built on RED’s R3D RAW codec, developed in collaboration with Nikon.

The ZR is also touted as the world’s first camera to support 32-bit float audio recording via both built-in and external microphones. Its in-body mic, powered by Nokia’s OZO Audio tech, features five selectable pickup patterns, including stereo and directional modes.

It offers internal 12-bit RAW recording at up to 6K/59.94p and 4K/119.88p, with dual native ISOs of 800 and 6400, delivering over 15 stops of dynamic range. It also supports Log3G10 and REDWideGamutRGB for colour matching with RED cinema cameras.

The ZR comes with a 4-inch, 3070k-dot display offering 1000-nit brightness and full DCI-P3 colour gamut. Its autofocus system, powered by the EXPEED 7 processor and advanced deep-learning AI, recognises nine different subject types and delivers accurate tracking. Paired with 5-axis in-body image stabilisation, it promises smooth handheld footage.

Its fanless body design is optimised for heat management. As per Nikon, the ZR can record continuously in 6K for up to 125 minutes. It also supports professional workflows with features like LUT monitoring, Frame.io Camera to Cloud transfer, and a new digital accessory shoe that enables communication and power delivery for accessories.
