Nothing has locked in July 1, 2025, for the India launch of its upcoming Phone 3. Unlike its previous models that leaned on design and minimalism, this one aims squarely at the flagship space. Nothing is going all in, calling it their “first true flagship” and teasing a blend of premium build quality, a beefed-up processor and smarter software. Under the hood, the Phone 3 will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chip.
Now, Akis Evangelidis, Nothing’s co-founder and Head of Marketing, took to X to announce a major shift in the company’s software support strategy. The upcoming Nothing Phone 3 will follow a new “5 and 7” update policy, moving beyond the earlier “4 and 4” model. While details are still under wraps, this likely translates to five years of Android OS updates and seven years of security patches — a clear step up in long-term support.
Evangelidis also highlighted that the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chip powering the Phone 3 brings stronger GPU and NPU performance than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 used in the Phone 2. The new processor is also set to improve connectivity and image signal processing (ISP), suggesting a more capable and future-ready device overall.

Following CEO Carl Pei’s teaser at Android Show: I/O Edition, where he called the Phone 3 Nothing’s first “true flagship,” more leaks have painted a clearer picture of what to expect. The device is rumoured to sport a triple-camera setup, likely housed in a module similar to the Phone 3a Pro, and of course, it’ll retain Nothing’s signature transparent back.
In a move that signals a shift in design philosophy, Nothing appears to be phasing out the Glyph Interface, the glowing LED pattern that’s been central to the brand’s identity. In its place, the Phone 3 is expected to debut a dot-matrix display on the rear, supporting custom animations, notifications, and interactive elements, much like the secondary display found on ASUS ROG phones.
While the transparent aesthetic remains intact, the addition of this rear matrix panel suggests Nothing is aiming to evolve its design language, blending form with more functional flair.
Furthermore, the smartphone is expected to arrive with a 6.77-inch AMOLED display, featuring a 120Hz refresh rate. It will run on Nothing OS 3.0, built over Android 15, which is likely to bring a more refined UI and smarter battery optimisation. On the hardware front, the phone is tipped to pack a 5,000mAh battery and upgraded cameras, along with AI-driven enhancements aimed at improving both photography and video quality.
Nothing has also confirmed that the Phone 3 will be manufactured locally at its Chennai facility in India. At The Android Show: I/O Edition, Pei also suggested the Phone 3 might carry a price tag of around 800 GBP, which converts to roughly Rs. 90,000. For reference, the Phone (2) was launched at Rs 44,999 for the base 8GB + 128GB model.
