OnePlus has confirmed that the upcoming OnePlus 15 smartphone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset - no surprises there. Although the OnePlus 15 is still some time away, the brand has announced this key specification, continuing the tradition of using flagship Qualcomm chipsets on its top-end smartphones. The OnePlus 15 is likely to be unveiled in late 2025 or early 2026, and could go on sale globally around the same time.

Another notable point - OnePlus is going straight from 13 to 15, and giving the number 14 a skip. If you recall, there was no 'OnePlus 4' either, with the product naming going from OnePlus 3 to OnePlus 5 in a single generation; it likely has to do with the number 4 being unlucky in Chinese culture.
The company also announced that the OnePlus 15 will use its in-house developed DetailMax image engine, which promises to improve photography capabilities. Also expect the latest version of OxygenOS based on Android 16.

Understandably, it's too early to provide any more details on the upcoming smartphone, but there are also rumours that OnePlus and Hasselblad are ending their long-standing partnership. The new DetailMax engine is likely to be OnePlus' first attempt in years to improve its flagship photography capabilities without relying on outside 'expertise'.
