Last but not least in the long list of products launched at Cloud 11 is the OnePlus Hub 5G router. It’s a first for the company when it comes to routers and is an interesting next step into broadening its horizons into a new paradigm. Although the Hub’s direct competitor Jio demonstrated the Air Fiber during the 5G launch, end consumers still cannot use it just yet.
While the product was merely teased at the event, let’s dive into what we can expect from the product set to launch in July 2023. The router will offer WiFi 6 Connectivity, 5G/4G SIM card support and Home Hub with Matter protocol support. The Home Mesh Network works to connect 2 or more routers while the LED indicators aboard the router will serve as cues on power as well as 5G, 4G and WiFi network activity.
Currently, there are no routers in the market in India which support 5G networks either on Jio or Airtel, but the market is expected to see a sudden boom, so stay tined. Later this year, you can expect to see the emphasis shift to Fixed Wireless Access or 5G broadband. So perhaps OnePlus is already a step ahead…
