At first glance, you may think this laptop is straight out of an action movie. Perhaps one of those devices that contain all the bomb codes but on a closer look, it is so much more. The Panasonic Toughbook 40 is a rugged powerhouse, the latest in the Toughbook lineup.
The 14in rugged modular laptop has focused on durability and reliability. Sporting a 14-inch FHD touchscreen display with a 1200nit peak brightness, this laptop is over a pound lighter than previous generations despite its larger display. The configurable and modular design comes with seven modular user-replaceable locations including four expansion (xPAK) areas. The other locations include places for the battery, memory and storage. You have been given several more options to customise and protect your tech investments to keep up with technological advancements at your own pace.
The laptop comes pre-loaded with Windows 11 Secure-Core. It even comes loaded with Intel's 11th Gen vPro processor (i5 and i7) and Intel Iris Xe graphics, but you can opt for a dedicated AMD graphics card if you pony up some extra cash. The 68Wh battery enables solid battery life of up to 18 hours from one battery and 36 hours from two. The hot-swap capabilities of the battery allow for uninterrupted operation while switching, to complete your mission (should you choose to accept it) with ease.
When it comes to user experience, the Toughbook 40 features improved screen brightness, a customizable backlit keyboard and power button and a reengineered resistive touchpad which is 60% larger and can be used in the rain or when wearing gloves (perfect for planning your heinous crimes or saving the world). The laptop has 8GB RAM (up to 64GB) alongside dual SSDs of 512GB each (expandable).
But the true rugged nature of the device is seen in its military-grade IP66 resistance to dust and water and its ability to survive 26-side drops from 6 feet. You can even smack baddies in the head with it but we don't recommend you try it.
