The Renault 5 Turbo 3E is a spirited, all-electric tribute to the iconic Renault 5 Turbo and Turbo 2 of the roaring '80s, reimagined with a modern twist. Billed as a 'mini-supercar,' this newcomer will open at a starting price of €155,000 (approx. ₹1.49 crore). The first 500 signatories will secure a priority reservation through Renault’s network. Sales are set to span Europe, the Middle East, Japan, and Australia, with the first deliveries slated to hit the road in 2027.

Renault hails the Turbo 3E as its most powerful road car to date. Sitting atop a bespoke aluminium platform crafted to match its lofty ambitions, the Turbo 3E stretches 4.08 metres long, spans a supercar-worthy 2.03 metres wide, and stands 1.38 metres tall. Marrying the broad stance of a supercar with the agile footprint of a city car, Renault believes it has forged an entirely new breed — the 'mini-supercar.'

At its heart, the Turbo 3E features twin rear-mounted, in-wheel motors, making it a pure rear-wheel-drive machine. Together, it promises 540 hp and 4,800 Nm of torque. Thanks to an all-carbon body shell keeping weight under 1,450 kilograms, this electric renegade blitzes from 0-100 km/h in under 3.5 seconds, according to Renault. A 70 kWh battery is paired with an 800-volt architecture and a DC charger capable of up to 350 kW. It is claimed to recharge from 15 to 80% in 15 minutes. On a full charge, it promises a WLTP range exceeding 400 kilometres.

Developed under Alpine, the Renault 5 Turbo 3E will be brought to life at the Jean Redele Alpine plant in Dieppe. Ampere lent its prowess in software and electronic architecture to the project, while Mobilize stepped in with an array of services to elevate the electric driving experience—including Mobilize Smart Charge, Mobilize Charge Pass, Plug & Charge functionality, and bidirectional charging through V2L and V2G technology.

Honouring its illustrious past, the Turbo 3E will be offered in the iconic colours of the original Renault 5 Turbo and Turbo 2 — from the Rouge Grenade seen on production models to the legendary black, yellow, and white livery that stormed to victory in the 1982 Tour de Corse rally. 

Beyond these tributes, a suite of “gentleman driver” options awaits, with customers invited to meet Renault’s design team to curate their bespoke creations. From seat upholstery to dashboard trims and door panels, every detail can be personalised.

Those eager to bring home one of the 1,980 individually numbered Turbo 3Es can submit a secure request via the dedicated page on Renault’s national websites. Come the first half of 2027, customers will then finalise their configuration and formally place their orders through their dealer.
