Samsung Display shows-off world’s first slidable screen for PCs

Slide into hi-tech

Slidable PCs could be the next big thing stealing the thunder from contemporary monitors (like the thin screens once did with the CRTs). Samsung Display, along with Intel, unveiled the world’s first slidable display for PCs at the Intel Innovation 2022.

In just a fraction of a second this prototype device transforms from a 13in tablet to a 17in display screen for PCs by expanding horizontally with a sliding mechanism. The tech giants have long been experimenting with various form factors like dual-screens and foldable PCs and decided it's finally time to slide.

Wondering what it would cost? Well, there is no information about it yet and neither do we know anything about the display panel’s resolution, aspect ratio or any other specs.  We can only hope that this futuristic display comes with  good software support and appropriate mechanism to connect external devices.
