Samsung’s latest Galaxy Watch 8 is the brand’s thinnest smartwatch yet

Redesigned with a circle-in-square case, updated UI, and built-in Gemini AI

Samsung’s latest wearables — the Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic — are here, and they’re slimmer, smarter, and sleeker than ever. According to the brand, the Galaxy Watch8 is its thinnest model yet, thanks to a reengineered internal layout that makes it 11% slimmer than its predecessor.

It also features a Dynamic Lug system designed to move more naturally with your wrist, improving comfort and stability for all-day wear. The circular display framed by a square-style case, first seen on last year’s Galaxy Watch Ultra, has now made its way across the lineup.

Under the hood, both watches run on Wear OS 6 with One UI 8 Watch, powered by Samsung’s new Exynos W1000 3nm processor. Developed in collaboration with Google, the series also comes with Gemini AI built in, letting you use voice commands for tasks like launching workouts, setting reminders, or sending messages, all from your wrist. The smartwatches are also designed to make better use of round screens, offering Multi-Info Tiles for at-a-glance updates and a new Now Bar that keeps key tasks within easy reach.

On the health front, the BioActive Sensor returns, combining heart rate, ECG, and body composition tracking, supported by a suite of sensors including temperature, barometer, and gyroscope. The Watch 8 Classic adds a 3D Hall sensor for more accurate movement detection.

New tools in the Samsung Health app expand the wellness experience with instant insights into sleep, nutrition, and fitness. A new Running Coach gives your performance a 1–10 score and builds tailored training plans with live feedback. There’s also an improved Together feature to fuel some friendly competition through running challenges with your crew.

The Galaxy Watch 8 comes in 44mm and 40mm aluminium cases with Graphite and Silver colour options, while the Watch 8 Classic steps up in 46mm stainless steel, complete with a rotating bezel, and comes in Black and White.

All models sport Sapphire Crystal Super AMOLED displays with Always-On support, now claimed to be 50 percent brighter, hitting up to 3,000 nits for better outdoor visibility.

Both the Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic come equipped with LTE, Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi, NFC, and dual-frequency GPS for improved connectivity and location accuracy. They’re built tough too, with 5ATM + IP68 water resistance and military-grade durability.

The Watch 8’s 44mm model houses a 435mAh battery, and the 40mm variant packs a 325mAh unit. The Watch8 Classic, available in a single 46mm size, features a slightly larger 445mAh battery.
