Sony ILX-LR1 is a lightweight, full-frame E-mount camera

A must-have for drone enthusiasts!

Sony’s got a teeny-tiny new box camera —  Sony ILX-LR1. The camera has a high-resolution 61-megapixel 35 mm full-frame image sensor and is compatible with a variety of E-mount lenses.

The Sony ILX-LR1 tips the scales at 243g. Sony says its compact, box-shaped body and lightweight are well-suited for a range of applications, including drone use, live streaming, industrial imaging, remote event coverage, inspection, and investigation.

The ILX-LR1 is powered by a back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor and the Bionz XR image processor, delivering exceptional image quality akin to the a7R V. This includes impressive resolving power, a wide dynamic range, and an ISO range spanning from 100 to 32000 (native).

The ILX-LR1 is said to excel at capturing high-resolution images with low noise and wide dynamic range. It offers a continuous shooting capability of 3 frames per second, good for mapping shots. The camera is equipped with screw holes (M3) for secure mounting and a mounting screw hole (1/4-20 UNC) on the bottom surface. For easy installation, it features both USB Type-C and HDMI Micro (Type D) ports located together on the rear.

The Sony Camera Remote SDK enables remote access and control of the camera's menus and functions. By integrating an API into the system, you can remotely control the camera, including adjusting settings, releasing the shutter, and monitoring live views.

The ILX-LR1's Power & Control Terminal enables low-latency data communication for remote applications that demand quick, precise responses, such as capturing images at the perfect moment. With support for a DC 10-18V power connection, this camera can be powered directly from a drone's battery. The ILX-LR1 camera is priced at ₹3,29,990.
