Star Sports’ new interactive features will make IPL 2023 viewing experience more immersive

Time to bid adieu to your grandma's sports channel!

Star Sports seems to have resolved to transport you directly to the field this IPL season, as the network has collaborated with Dolby to deliver the matches in Atmos sound. And also partnered with Tata Play and Airtel Digital TV for an array of interactive features.

Along with broadcasting the tournaments with Dolby Atmos (5.1.4) audio, Star Sports has ensured the configuration of 40+ microphones in the stadium to capture cinematic sound.

There will also be an Ambience Feed feature that will let you turn off commentary so that you can enjoy the in-stadia sound and a subtitled feed which will provide subtitles for commentary during the live match. We wonder if it would be like a pass to the game, barring of course the uncomfortable seats and the sweaty crowds.

There are also some pretty interesting interactive features (on the lines of Jio) with Airtel Digital TV and Tata Play. There will be custom remote button service showing instant highlights, key moments, real-time stats and a dynamic playlist. The statistics are powered by ESPN Cricinfo’s revered statistical database.

There are also a couple of other features like Holobox at the Studio, it will provide an interactive experience that lets you teleport and interact with the commentators. Then there is Traxis that enhances graphics in 3D to enhance the viewing experience. Furthermore, the Social Listening Tool will allow real-time fan polling through any social platform to promote fan engagement.
