The new Mumbai showroom is currently spotlighting the refreshed Model Y, the brand’s all-electric SUV. Six units have been brought in from Tesla’s Shanghai facility for the launch, with the displayed model finished in a stealthy dark grey, featuring black alloys and a sleek, coupe-like silhouette.
Inside, the cabin embraces Tesla’s signature minimalism with a dual-tone black and white interior, centred around a 15.4-inch touchscreen. Tech highlights include wireless charging, USB-C ports, voice commands, internet connectivity, and app-based vehicle control.
In India, Tesla is introducing the Model Y in two variants – Standard and Long Range. The Standard Model Y offers a WLTP range of up to 500km and is claimed to do 0–100kph in 5.9 seconds. The Long Range version stretches that to a 622km WLTP-certified range, with a slightly quicker 0–100kph time of 5.6 seconds. Both variants are rear-wheel drive with a claimed top speed of 201kph. Tesla backs the Model Y with a 4-year/80,000km warranty on the vehicle and an 8-year/1,92,000km warranty on the battery and drive unit.
Pricing starts at Rs 59.89 lakh for the rear-wheel-drive variant. While there’s no official word yet on local manufacturing or assembly plans, Tesla’s Mumbai showroom launch is widely seen as a strategic first step to test market appetite and lay the groundwork for future expansion.
