The BenQ W5800 4K HDR laser projector is peak home theatre kit like nothing else

200-inch projection, advanced tone mapping, HDR10+, and more...

BenQ's latest home theatre projector has been launched at the What Hi Fi Show 2024 in Mumbai - the Rs. 6,50,000 W5800 is a 4K HDR10+ laser projector that promises to turn your viewing room into a proper immersive cinema experience. Capable of projecting at sizes of up to 200 inches, the W5800 also comes with advanced tone mapping, 100 percent DCI-P3 colour space, and 1.6x motorised zoom. The laser array light source promises up to 2600 lumens in brightness, and there's support for HDR10+ high dynamic range content with HDR-Pro tone mapping.

Usefully, there's also HDMI ARC and eARC support, letting you hook up the system to a full-fledged home cinema setup fairly easily. If you're stickler for colour calibration, you'll be happy to know that every BenQ W5800 comes with its own factory calibration report, and is claimed to be fully colour accurate straight out of the box.

The cooling system for the BenQ W5800 claims to run quiet at around 30dB - all the better to listen to the actual speakers. The laser projector is rated for 20,000 hours of watching, so you can expect your premium purchase to run for a while.

The W5800 laser projector is on display at the What Hi Fi Show 2024 right now; if you're in Mumbai, head on over from March 14-16 to check out the new projector, as well as other offerings from BenQ.
