The new Tentagraph and Spring Drive U.F.A. from Grand Seiko make a compelling case for your next watch splurge

Grand Seiko's first chronograph and most precise Spring Drive

Grand Seiko has unveiled two remarkable timepieces at its latest showcase. Leading the charge is the Tentagraph — the brand’s first mechanical chronograph — housed in the muscular Tokyo Lion case. Alongside it stood the Spring Drive U.F.A., a technical marvel featuring an industry-leading ±20 seconds per year accuracy from a purely mainspring-driven movement.

Tokyo lion Tentagraph

The Tokyo Lion series, inspired by the power and poise of its namesake, stands for strength and precision — values that the Tentagraph pushes even further. At its heart ticks the Caliber 9SC5, a high-frequency movement beating at 10 times per second, delivering a robust three-day power reserve even with the chronograph engaged.

Crafted from Brilliant Hard Titanium — a material twice as hard as steel yet remarkably light — the Tentagraph debuts this alloy in Grand Seiko’s Sport Collection. Refined pushers, razor-sharp diamond-cut indexes for enhanced legibility, and a mane-textured dial nodding to the lion’s legacy complete this confident evolution in form and function.

Complementing the bold case is a newly developed rubber strap, finished with a discreet lion paw motif on its underside. From the claw-like contours of the case to the vertically aligned sub-dials, every element of the Tentagraph embodies Grand Seiko’s elegance.

The watch starts at ₹16,00,000.

Spring Drive U.F.A

Grand Seiko also introduced the Spring Drive Caliber 9RB2. Now carrying the U.F.A. (Ultra Fine Accuracy) hallmark, this movement achieves an extraordinary ±20 seconds per year accuracy—setting a new benchmark for mainspring-powered precision.

The Caliber 9RB2 debuts in two Evolution 9 Collection references – one in Platinum 950 with a crocodile leather strap, the other in lightweight High-Intensity Titanium. Both feature dials inspired by the frosted landscapes of the Kirigamine Highlands, capturing the ethereal textures of Shinshu’s ice-covered forests. The rotor is engraved with ‘SPRING DRIVE ULTRA FINE ACCURACY,’ marking this debut.

The watch starts at  ₹10,00,000.
