Total War: Rome II returns to macOS

Grab your gladius and prepare for war!

Bellum Romanum gamers! Total War: ROME II has returned to macOS as the Emperor Edition. This version arrives complete with all the free updates ever released for the game. It also includes the Imperator Augustus campaign, which is set in the tumultuous aftermath of Julius Caesar’s assassination. This campaign brings an additional 10 playable factions and matches the base game’s Grand Campaign in both scope and scale.

There is a richly detailed campaign map that spans Europe, North Africa, and the Near East. Here, you can vie to extend the reach of the Roman Republic or work to repel it. Commanding one of 18 playable factions, ancient world empires can prosper through deft diplomacy, economic manoeuvring, spying, and sabotage. When politics and subterfuge fail is when the fun begins, through conquest and war using a huge variety of land and naval units in 3D battles.

Beyond the core game, five Campaign Packs and five Culture Packs are also available to purchase. Some of these are on macOS for the very first time. These add further playable factions in distinct new settings, such as the existential clash between Scipio’s Rome and Hannibal’s Carthage or Athens and Sparta’s jostling for control of the Hellenic world. They also extend the scope of the Grand Campaign, adding 16 new playable factions, including great African kingdoms and the raiding tribes of the Balkans, ensuring there is no end to the entertainment and no end to the war.
