Twitter to introduce its own TikTok-style ‘For You’ page

The imitation game

It ain’t social media unless you are copying all that is good about someone else, is it? Up next on the list of platforms “adopting” another’s format is Twitter. This time they are taking steps to make a For You Page-esque experience. Taking one of TikTok’s greatest features and hoping it brings some steadiness to this ever-changing platform that seems to be in the thick of its mid-life crisis.

You can expect some changes in the default feeds with two new tabs. So far, Twitter has given you the freedom to choose between a chronological timeline and an algorithmic timeline. From now on, you can expect the feed to be split into two tabs: "For You" and "Following". Supposedly, the For You tab will be displayed first when the app is first opened. This indicates that the new Twitter homepage will consist of suggested themes and hot topics, a design similar to TikTok.

Along with other upgrades, the chief twit tweeted about the change, noting that it is "part of a much larger UI makeover." The tabs will roll out in iOS first while the current (old feed) is still available on Android and Web.

So, let’s see how these changes are received by the masses and if the slew of changes headed our way on the app is enough to retain the interest of the moody masses.
