WhatsApp rolls out Liquid Glass design to iPhone users

Available through the latest WhatsApp for iOS 25.28.75 beta

WhatsApp is reportedly testing a refreshed interface for iOS, built around Apple’s new iOS 26 Liquid Glass design language. According to WABetaInfo, the update introduces a more dynamic look with translucent layers and fluid animations, representing one of the most significant visual updates the app has seen on iPhones in recent years. The refreshed interface is available to select users through the latest WhatsApp for iOS 25.28.75 beta

With the integration of the iOS 26 SDK, WhatsApp can leverage Apple’s updated design tools to deliver dynamic depth, fluid transitions, and layered translucency. As reported by WABetaInfo, the Liquid Glass redesign makes interface elements appear lighter and more three-dimensional, with the tab bar seemingly floating above the content. The UI also adjusts its translucency based on the background, creating a clean, elegant, and visually fluid experience.

One of the standout changes in WhatsApp’s Liquid Glass update is the semi-translucent tab bar, which blurs the background and creates a smooth visual transition between chat sections.

Icons respond with fluid animations when tapped, while the active tab indicator aligns precisely with the icon’s width for a polished look. The tab bar also adapts seamlessly to both light and dark modes, ensuring clarity across viewing conditions.

The redesign extends to the keyboard and buttons, which now adopt iOS 26’s native translucent style, subtly interacting with background elements. Buttons throughout the app share this semi-transparent aesthetic and feature smooth tap animations. Even the context menu has been revamped with a reflective, glass-like appearance, completing a cohesive and visually responsive interface that aligns fully with Apple’s Liquid Glass design language.
