Xiaomi has taken the wraps off its latest flagship series, called the 12S, which includes the Xiaomi 12S, Xiaomi 12S Pro, and the Xiaomi 12S Ultra. The brand has collaborated with Leica to bring us a range of smartphones focussed on “pushing imaging technology to new limits”.
When it comes to the smartphones’ USP, there’s a lot to talk about the cameras. The Xiaomi 12S Ultra is equipped with Sony’s IMX989 1" sensor, utilising a Quad-Bayer pixel array. It supports features to help in reducing noise, extending dynamic range, increasing light captured, and achieving overall better imagery in low-light conditions. Equipped with Dolby Vision HDR support for video recording and playback, the Ultra has used HyperOIS for stable performance with movement.
The Xiaomi 12S and Xiaomi 12S Pro, on the other hand, feature Sony’s IMX707 as their primary sensor, incorporating a large sensor size and large pixels. Making use of the Xiaomi AI Image Solution and Xiaomi ProFocus, these sensors can achieve faster startup and continuous capturing. This is just a mere glimpse into the many features these cameras offer.
All three models are powered by a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor. The 12S Ultra and 12S Pro feature a 6.73in AMOLED colour display, with 1,500 nits peak brightness, 2K resolution, P3 colour gamut, and 1-120Hz AdaptiveSync Pro. Whereas, the slightly lower-end, Xiaomi 12S comes with a 6.28in display that supports P3 colour gamut display, HDR10+, and 120Hz AdaptiveSync.
The smartphones come with support for both wired and wireless charging, and pack in a 4,500mAh, 4,600mAh, and 4,860mAh batteries respectively. The Ultra and the Pro models come equipped with the Xiaomi Surge P1 fast-charging chipset, and support up to a 16A output current. Each model comes with an array of RAM and storage options, depending on your needs.
Prices for the Xiaomi 12S Ultra start from ¥5,999 (₹70,000 approx), and it is available in Classic Black and Verdant Green colours. The Xiaomi 12S and Xiaomi 12S Pro come in Black, Purple, Green and White colour options, with prices starting from ¥3,999 (₹47,000 approx), and ¥4,699 (₹55,500 approx) respectively.
