You can now personalise your Apple iPhone lock screen with widgets and photo filters in iOS 16

Cue the makeover montageā€¦

Time for you to spruce up your Lock Screen with iOS 16, allowing you to make it more personal, beautiful, efficient and convenient. Sporting a new multilayered effect, photos can be artfully set in front of the time on the Lock Screen, creating a sense of depth. You can now also customize the look of the date and time with an array of expressive type styles and colour choices, depending on your personal aesthetic.

The Lock Screen features widgets, making it much easier to get information at a glance, be it upcoming calendar events, the weather, battery levels, alarms, time zones, Activity ring progress, and more.

Not only can users pick from the Lock Screen gallery, which has a vast range of themes and motifs, they can also create Lock Screens using their favourite emoji or colour combinations. No need to worry if you are indecisive by nature, with multiple Lock Screens, users can switch between their favourites with just a simple swipe.

Live Activities is a new feature that keeps you updated on what’s happening in real time, such as a sports game, workout, ride-share, or food delivery order, without having to unlock your phone. Notifications too have been redesigned to roll up from the bottom so that your pretty mug doesn’t get covered by all those Swiggy notifications.
