HP Chromebook 14A review

Budget-friendly computing for the uber-patient

₹ 26,999

In an era of advanced technology where everything costs a small fortune, we've come across a device that blurs the line between a phone and a laptop. Let's dive into the world of the HP Chromebook 14A - a budget-friendly device that brings a touch of convenience to your computing experience.

Design

The HP Chromebook 14A may not win any awards for its weight but at 1.4kg, it's light enough to save you from feeling like you're lugging around large amounts of hardware. It’s convenient enough to carry with you and work on the move.

While it looks reasonably premium with an all-Silver body and narrow bezels, it does have a slightly cheaper feel. The trackpad isn’t too convenient and responsive but the touch screen does help in this aspect. The full-size keyboard is a big perk on this Chromebook. Probably one of the few features that give it an edge over a tablet.

Display

You'll be treated to an HD Micro-edge, BrightView display that will make you go, "Wow, it's so...adequate." With a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, it offers an anti-glare quality and a decent viewing experience given the price. Just don't expect it to blow your socks off or make your eyes pop. It is a touch screen and that’s a big plus on a Chromebook especially when the cursor is often laggy.

Performance

Equipped with the Intel Celeron N4500 processor and dual cores and a turbo speed of up to 2.8GHz, the HP Chromebook 14A offers a performance that's not exactly blazing fast but should get the job done. It can manage most of your daily computing tasks unless like me you have 100 tabs open at all times. It does operate with multiple tabs open but there is a significant delay giving you a little extra time to contemplate life's mysteries. If you're a master of multitasking, be prepared for a challenge. The HP Chromebook 14A might test your skills and patience, especially if you enjoy rapidly switching between various Chrome accounts. So, if you're not putting tons of load on the device, this Chromebook has your back.

Battery Life

The HP Chromebook 14A comes with a 2-cell battery that is quite dependable and will keep you going for quite a few hours. Unless, of course, you decide to overload it with demanding tasks. It's just a friendly reminder to take things at a leisurely pace.

Verdict

In conclusion, the HP Chromebook 14A offers budget-friendly computing. It may not be the most powerful or feature-packed device but it delivers what you'd expect of a laptop within its price range. If you're looking for a Chromebook that will put a smile on your face and meet your basic computing needs, the HP Chromebook 14A is worth considering. It is an ideal choice for students and those with a lot of writing work.
