Infinix Hot 30 5G hands-on review

Punching above its weight

from ₹ 12,499

Infinix has been busy with back-to-back launches of budget 5G smartphones. Expanding its smartphone offerings is the Hot 30 5G, packed with the MediaTek Dimensity 6020 processor, up to 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage (expandable), this device aims to deliver solid performance at an affordable price point.

Design

When it comes to aesthetics, the Infinix Hot 30 5G offers two colour options – Aurora Blue and Knight Black. The screen has slim bezels on the front, accompanied by a sturdy, square-shaped body that has flat edges. As for the display, the smartphone features a 6.78in FHD+ display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, ensuring a reasonably smooth experience and a visually pleasing all round affair.

Battery

One standout feature of the Infinix Hot 30 5G is its massive 6000mAh battery, catering to users who prioritize long-lasting battery life. Infinix claims that this smartphone is designed to meet the needs of those seeking a budget-friendly option without compromising on performance and battery longevity. With this device, you can expect to go through the day without worrying about constantly charging your phone.

Performance

The Infinix Hot 30 5G is a real marathon runner when it comes to performance. It can keep going with gaming and only begins to heat up after 20-25 minutes. It’s been very obviously designed to keep gamers going. It’s not the best out of the but it really outdoes what you’d expect from the price range. The base model offers 4GB of RAM (with a 4GB expandable option) and 128GB of internal storage, while the higher variant provides 8GB of RAM (with an 8GB expandable option) and the same 128GB of internal storage.

Running on Infinix's latest operating software, XOS 13, which is based on Android 13, the Hot 30 5G provides a different user interface than most of us are used to. It’s a bit basic but it is friendly enough to adapt to rapidly.

Camera

The 50-megapixel Dual AI Rear Camera and 8MP Selfie Camera are packed with professional modes but are not particularly spectacular. They are pretty substandard and give you what you expect from a phone that costs less than 15k. It is weak in low light conditions and images tend to be blurry and overexposed. Colours aren't too vivid either.

Verdict

In summary, the Infinix Hot 30 5G offers a compelling package for budget-conscious consumers who desire 5G connectivity, long battery life, and reliable performance. With its affordable price point, robust specifications, and appealing design, the Hot 30 5G is certainly worth considering for those looking for a budget-friendly smartphone without compromising on essential features.
