Layers Anarc smartwatch review

Geometry of time

₹ 6,849

In a sea of smartwatches trying to do everything from track your sleep to order your groceries, and traditional timepieces sticking to their classic guns, something new has to do something genuinely different to stand out. Anarc, with its eponymous watch, is certainly trying. They’ve gone for a look that screams "futuristic minimalist" with a case design that's anything but ordinary. But does that translate into a practical, everyday smartwatch experience? Let's dive in.

Layers Anarc Smartwatch Review - Design and build

First off, when you unbox the Anarc, it’s clear this isn't your grandad’s watch. Or even your dad's. The most striking feature, without a shadow of a doubt, is its bold case shape. It's got an almost architectural quality, a unique form factor that immediately sets it apart from typical round or rectangular watches. While the mineral glass display is flat, the overall watch design creates an intriguing, almost sculpted presence on the wrist. It's bold, it's sleek, and it certainly grabs attention. You'll catch people doing a double-take.

The watch itself is housed in an industrial grade stainless steel case, which feels reassuringly solid without being overly chunky. With dimensions of approximately 43.9mm x 39.9mm x 11.2mm, it's got a good presence on the wrist, but the slim profile means it slips under shirt cuffs with no faff. It comes with a liquid silicone strap, which contributes to its comfortable wear and lightweight feel, complementing the minimalist aesthetic. It feels premium, no question there. The finish is clean, the edges are sharp – the kind of thing that makes you feel a bit more put-together just by wearing it.

Layers Anarc Smartwatch Review - Functionality

Now, onto what it actually does. The Anarc watch isn't here to overwhelm you with a hundred different apps or convoluted features. Instead, it offers a streamlined, minimalist smartwatch experience, focusing sharply on the core functionalities you truly need, all powered by a capable Hisilicon chip.

The display is a vibrant 1.85in AMOLED panel, a crucial detail that ensures deep blacks and crisp visuals for its uncluttered interface. With a smooth 60Hz refresh rate and 700 nits peak brightness, reading the time, date, and notifications is a breeze, even under direct sunlight. Navigating through its functions is wonderfully straightforward using the side buttons – no hidden menus or complex gestures to fumble with, just pure, tactile simplicity.

For health and fitness, Anarc has included the essentials: an Accelerometer (6-axis), Gyroscope, Heart Rate Sensor, and SpO2 Sensor. This means you get reliable Heart Rate monitoring, SpO2 tracking, Sleep Tracking, Stress tracking, Breathing exercises, and dedicated Work-Out Modes. It's everything you need for fundamental health insights, without the added complexity of features you might never use.

And for communication, it keeps things direct. This watch supports Bluetooth Calling with Noise Cancellation, allowing you to handle quick calls right from your wrist when your phone is out of reach – a truly convenient basic. It also offers TWS Connectivity, a neat touch for pairing your earbuds for audio without pulling out your phone. Connectivity to your smartphone is solid via BLE 5.2. One thing to note on the practical side is the IP68 water resistance. This means it's dust-tight and can handle immersion in up to 1.5 meters of fresh water for up to 30 minutes. So, splashes, rain, and hand washing are absolutely fine, and it can survive an accidental dunk. It's designed for real life, not for deep-sea diving.

Layers Anarc Smartwatch Review - Experience

Wearing the Anarc Watch is an experience. It’s light enough not to be cumbersome, but substantial enough to feel like a quality piece of kit. That distinctive case is genuinely unique and gives the AMOLED display a cool, almost recessed depth. It's a conversation starter, for sure.Battery life, from its 350mAh cell, is quoted at up to 7 days. While not the "weeks" or "years" of a basic digital watch, for a smartwatch with an AMOLED screen and all these sensors and calling features at this price point, that's genuinely impressive.

Your mileage will, of course, vary depending on how much you use the BT calling and continuous health monitoring. My only minor quibble, and it’s a subjective one, is that while the minimalist display is stylish, it sometimes requires a deliberate glance to read quickly in certain challenging lighting conditions due to reflections on the flat surface. But honestly, it's a small trade-off for the sheer aesthetic boldness and comprehensive feature set

Layers Anarc Smartwatch Review - Verdict

The Anarc Watch isn't just trying to be different; it is different. It’s a beautifully designed, well-built piece of wrist art that surprisingly doubles as a very capable smartwatch. It’s for those who appreciate clean lines, modern aesthetics, and a touch of uniqueness, now coupled with a comprehensive array of health tracking, communication, and notification features without breaking the bank.

It’s stylish, it’s well-made, and it’s a genuine head-turner that delivers far more functionality than its price tag suggests. If you're looking for a watch that makes a subtle yet strong statement, and you want smartwatch capabilities without the premium price and unwanted apps, the Anarc Watch is a brilliant choice. For ₹5,999, you're getting a genuinely distinctive piece that feels far more expensive than it is, and performs like one too.
