The Game Awards 2023: Top trailer launches and announcements

December has rolled in and ‘tis the season for The Game Awards! And in case you weren't able to catch it, we (as usual) have got you covered with a concise list featuring every trailer from Geoff Keighley's grand annual event.

1. Brothers: A Tale Of Two Sons Remake first reveal

After more than ten years since its initial release, Brothers: A Tale Of Two Sons is making its way to consoles. Initially launched in August 2013, this game allowed players to simultaneously control two brothers using a single controller, embarking on a journey to cure their father's illness by obtaining water from a life-rejuvenating tree.

2. Baldur’s Gate 3 is out on Xbox now

The Xbox version of Baldur’s Gate 3 has been in development for a bit. After the game's hit PC launch in August and just before the PS5 release, Larian Studios dropped the news—they're bringing Baldur’s Gate 3 to Microsoft’s consoles. But heads up, the Xbox Series S won't have split-screen co-op.

3. God Of War Ragnarok: Valhalla coming on December 12

Sony unveiled exciting news for God Of War Ragnarok: Valhalla fans—a free downloadable content! This new addition introduces a free roguelike mode where Kratos teams up with Mimir to explore a mysterious island teeming with monsters. Get ready because this new mode is set to drop next week on December 12.

4. Pony Island 2: Panda Circus gets first trailer

Daniel Mullins, the creator of Inscryption, is gearing up for his next game titled "Pony Island 2: Panda Circus 2." This combines first-person open-world gameplay with a 2D game nested within it that mixes multiple formats from old-school pixel gameplay. The game is slated for release in 2025.

5. Final Fantasy XVI stealth launches DLC

Square Enix had previously hinted at developing DLC for Final Fantasy XVI. However, at the Game Awards, it was revealed that not just one, but two DLC chapters are in the works. Surprise! The first of these DLCs, titled "Echoes of the Fallen," introduces a new story chapter unfolding before the final battle and is available for players to dive into... right now.

6. Monster Hunter Wilds announced for 2025

Capcom unveiled the newest Monster Hunter instalment: Monster Hunter Wilds. Not many specifics have been shared about its differences from past games, and the launch is expected in 2025. It's set to arrive on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X / S.

7. Hellblade 2: Senua's Saga gets new trailer

After a live performance of an original song for the game by Heilung, a fresh trailer for Hellblade 2: Senua's Saga was revealed, offering a deeper look into Ninja Theory's upcoming project. The trailer showcased various locations, enemies, and additional aspects of the forthcoming adventure, scheduled for release in 2024.

8. Tales of Kenzera: Zau launching on April 23

Tales of Kenzera: Zau, an action platformer in the style of Metroidvania, is Surgent Studios' contribution to the EA Originals program. The game follows Zau, a shaman on a quest to unravel a mystery linked to his father, entwined with the god of death and other elements. Scheduled for release on April 23, the game will be available on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

9. Harmonium: The Musical first trailer revealed

This unique musical adventure, crafted by The Odd Gentlemen, aims to be inclusive for the deaf community. The game is entirely subtitled, and all characters communicate through sign language, including the singing parts. It will be available on Xbox Game Pass and Netflix Games.

10. Lost Records: Bloom And Rage to launch in late 2024

Don't Nod recently revealed their upcoming narrative adventure titled Lost Records: Bloom And Rage, currently in development at a new Don't Nod studio situated in Montreal. The game centres around Swann, Nora, Autumn, and Kat, a group of four high school friends who reunite after 27 years, breaking a vow of silence they made long ago. Lost Records: Bloom And Rage is expected to hit the shelves in late 2024.

11. Fortnite Rocket Racing launched on December 8

Psyonix and Epic recently marked the impending release with a new gameplay trailer. This video not only showcased the thrilling tracks we'll be racing on but also offered a sneak peek at the cars that will be zipping around those tracks at high speed.

12. Exodus trailer revealed

In the debut trailer, we meet the primary character, referred to as The Traveler, and get a glimpse of the game's time-dilation mechanics, essential to both gameplay and storytelling in Exodus. This RPG emphasises the significance of player choices, as their far-reaching consequences are visible due to the intriguing time-related physics at play.

13. Big Walk is a new co-op puzzler

Big Walk is an upcoming cooperative multiplayer adventure emphasising teamwork and communication. Players will collaborate to solve puzzles and uncover new findings. Developed by House House, known for their hit game Untitled Goose Game, Big Walk is set to be released in 2025.

14. Metaphor: ReFantazio is a new fantasy RPG from Atlus

Announced back in June, Atlus unveiled a fresh trailer during The Game Awards. The game appears to inherit many elements from Persona but embraces an even more extravagant anime style. Anticipated to arrive in fall 2024, it's set to launch on Xbox Series X and PC.

15. World of Goo 2 gets first trailer

The beloved physics-based puzzle game is at last receiving a sequel, titled World of Goo 2, hitting the shelves a whopping 15 years after the original release. Fans can anticipate its launch in 2024.

16. Dragon Ball Z: Sparking Zero made its world premiere

The latest instalment in the widely-loved Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi series made its global debut. While Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero is yet to announce a specific release date, eager fans can already wishlist the game on Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 5, and Steam.

17. Windblown new trailer revealed

Windblown marks the latest game venture from Motion Twin, the creators of Dead Cells. This game places you in the role of a Leaper tasked with protecting the Ark from an ominous force known as the Vortex. The trailer suggests a grim tone, showcasing anthropomorphic characters meeting gruesome fates. Gamers can already wishlist Windblown on Steam, and it's slated to enter early access in 2024.

18. Thrasher gets new trailer

Thrasher, hailed as "a mind-melting cosmic racer and an essential audiovisual experience," is the latest creation from Drool, the studio acclaimed for the 2016 cult favourite Thumper. The debut trailer, unveiled at The Game Awards, provided a glimpse into the game's psychedelic gameplay, teasing a 2024 release window.

19. The Casting of Frank Stone official trailer revealed

The upcoming horror game is situated within the Dead by Daylight universe. This narrative-driven game delves into a chilling mystery where each decision holds significant weight. Scheduled for a 2024 release, the game will be accessible on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows PC, obtainable through platforms such as Steam, Epic Games Store, and the Microsoft Store.

20. Visions of Mana gets first trailer

Square Enix is revitalising its revered Mana RPG franchise with Visions Of Mana, a fresh addition slated for a 2024 release. The unveiling trailer showcased numerous game characters, settings, and a handful of foes, including the beloved Rabites. Visions Of Mana is set to launch on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms.

21. Rise of the Ronin will be released on March 22

Rise of the Ronin encompasses a historically rich setting, a trademark of Koei Tecmo, complemented by Team Ninja's distinct style of action and combat. Mark your calendars—pre-orders for the game are set to commence on December 14, 2023.

22. Jurassic Park Survival first trailer revealed

As hinted by its title, the game is a first-person survival horror experience set in the realm of Jurassic Park. The trailer seems to track the journey of scientist Dr. Maya Joshi, stranded on the overrun Isla Nublar. While there's no confirmed release date yet, the game is slated to arrive on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms.

23. Black Myth Wukong will release on August 20

The release date trailer provides a glimpse into the forthcoming action-RPG steeped in Chinese mythology, crafted by Game Science. Inspired by Journey to the West, a revered classic in Chinese literature, the game casts you as the Destined One, embarking on a captivating yet perilous journey. Scheduled for release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms.

24. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League new gameplay trailer revealed

The co-op supervillain shooter is indeed set to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on February 2, 2024.
