Ever spent a solid hour in a character creator, meticulously crafting the perfect cheekbones and warrior face paint, only to be immediately locked inside your creation’s skull for the entire game? It’s a tragedy of modern gaming. You’ve got a ten-foot-tall, blue-skinned eco-warrior bod, and you can’t even admire it.
Well, put that frustration in the bin. Ubisoft has announced that on December 5th, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is getting a free update that finally adds a third-person mode. At the simple press of a button, you can now zoom the camera out and watch your own Na’vi self gallivanting through Pandora's gorgeous wilderness. According to the devs at Massive Entertainment, this isn’t just a camera tweak; they’ve reworked animations and controls to make sure it feels properly seamless. Finally, you can see if that loincloth really does go with your bow.
If you’ve already rinsed the main story, the update also adds a New Game+ mode. It lets you replay the campaign with all your skills and gear intact, but throws tougher enemies at you in exchange for a brand-new skill tree and shinier kit.
This all lands just before the new film, Avatar: Fire and Ash, arrives on December 19. With the game also on sale, it’s a blue-tiful time to leap in and see Pandora from a whole new and frankly, much more flattering point of view. You can read our Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora review here.
