BMW’s 7 Series Protection beats firearms and explosives

After all, safety first!

If you’ve got a target on your back, BMW’s latest 7 Series Protection vehicle is made just for you! You can now get your hands on this car right here in India, but BMW will only reveal the price when you enquire (word on the street is, it's around ₹15 Crore!). For reference, the standard 7 Series in India is currently tagged between ₹1.81 crore to ₹1.84 crore (ex-showroom).

The BMW 7 Series Protection provides tailored defence against firearms and explosives. It offers VR9 protection, meeting Germany's VPAM standards, and the glass can even withstand fire from 7.62x51mm ammunition. 

For added safety, the BMW 7 Series Protection offers an optional partial protection extension in specific bodywork areas, guarding against fire from VPAM 1 0 ammunition. Its secret weapon? The Protection Core—an architecture that forms the backbone of this model. This heavily fortified inner core wraps around the entire passenger compartment, offering invisible protection to its occupants.

Outside, the BMW 7 Series Protection has contour line lighting, with BMW Kidney 'Iconic Glow'. Plus, the headlights are split into two sections—the top half has sleek daytime running lights, complemented by the BMW Crystal Headlights. Below, you'll find the LED headlights for both high and low beams. Plus, there is BMW Effortless Door tech that means opening and closing the doors is motorised. Rolling on 20-inch light-alloy wheels as standard, the new BMW 7 Series.

Protection is equipped with PAX tires featuring runflat rings on the wheel rim. This feature allows the vehicle to keep moving at speeds of up to 80 km/h even if there's a complete loss of tire pressure. As an added safety feature, the vehicles can be fitted with All-door Emergency Exits. Optional BMW Pennant Holder and BMW Flashing Lights and beacons further enhance visibility and signalling capabilities.

Inside, the BMW Interaction Bar sets the tone for the cockpit design of the new BMW 7 Series Protection. It has the latest generation of BMW iDrive, featuring "QuickSelect" and BMW Operating System 8.5. This setup offers a revamped entry screen and "QuickSelect” access.. The entry screen now provides a permanent display of the map view from the navigation system and other customisable features.

The vehicle comes equipped with a standard-fitted Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System. With a 1,265-watt digital amplifier, individually adjustable equalisers, and 28 speakers scattered throughout the cabin. Additionally, the standard-fitted Intercom system allows passengers to communicate with individuals outside the vehicle without the need to open doors or windows.

The BMW 7 Series Protection comes with the latest-generation V8 engine under the hood. Featuring BMW TwinPower Turbo tech, it boasts an upgraded turbocharging system with an electrically operated blow-off valve and indirect charge air cooling. With a new 4.4-liter eight-cylinder engine leveraging 48V mild hybrid technology, this car delivers an output of 390 kW / 530 hp and a maximum torque of 750 Nm. Zooming from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.6 seconds, it reaches a top speed of 210 km/h.
