Godrej Advantis IoT9 lets you unlock the door from anywhere in the world

You need Internet connectivity for that, of course...

Godrej has launched the Advantis IoT9 smart door lock in India, alongside its 'Fear is Good' campaign around home safety measures. The new smart door lock is IoT enabled, using Wi-Fi connectivity to offer remote functionality that can be controlled from anywhere in the world. The Advantis IoT9 offers nine modes of access, including through wearable devices and smartphones using NFC, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, biometric authentication, RFID cards, remote control, password or pin code, and mechanical override.

For those who are skeptical about the security of using such a heavily connected door lock, the Godrej Avantis IoT9 works through data encryption which is stored on servers in India itself. You can also access an 'audit trail' - a log of all locking and unlocking - through the mobile app. Additionally, authorised users can unlock the door through an app from anywhere in the world, using Wi-Fi connectivity on the door lock. Of course, your smartphone also needs to be connected to the Internet to be able to send the instruction to the Advantis IoT9.

Interestingly, there is also integration with Alexa and Google Home, for voice controls on the Godrej Advantis IoT9 door lock. It's also possible to generate a time-limited passcode to provide limited access to the door. The price and details on availability of the Godrej Advantis IoT9 are yet to be announced.
