Mahindra's 'Nu_IQ' platform showcased, with four future-ready 'Vision' concept SUVs revealed

The new platform will show up on SUVs launched in 2027 by Mahindra

Mahindra has revealed its 'Nu_IQ' platform for passenger SUVs, with four new cars showcased at a special event in Mumbai. The Vision T, Vision S, Vision X, and Vision SXT concept vehicles were showcased, suggesting that this is what we can look forward to seeing on major launches in 2027 from the Indian automaker. The Nu_IQ platform will support electric, petrol, and diesel vehicles, with SUVs in the compact segment targeted for launch in the coming years.

The four new vehicles showcased have different designs, but are all built on the same platform. SUV sizes will vary depending on the cabin sizes and designs, with the new cars set to go from under 4m in size to a little over 4.3m for the larger options. The platforms will support not only electric vehicles but also ICE cars, suggesting that Mahindra doesn't see petrol and diesel car demand going away any time soon.

The new SUVs promise commanding seating positions and best-in-class ground clearance, spacious cabins with improved boot space, light-weight design, and improved tech both inside and outside the cabin. The four models all feature different designs, but could slot into existing brand names as the next-generation offerings.

For example, the Vision T could be marketed as the next-generation Thar, the Vision S is likely to be pushed as the new Scorpio series, while the Vision X could be showcased as the successor to the XUV 3XO. The Vision SXT is perhaps the most impressive of the four, with a rugged off-roader design and styling cues which borrow from the other three models.

Of course, given that these are compact cars, expect more from Mahindra in different segments going forward as well.
