The OnePlus 12R went on sale earlier in 2024 with two available variants - a more affordable one with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage priced at Rs. 39,999, and a more capable offering with 16GB RAM and 256GB storage for Rs. 45,999. Usefully though, OnePlus is now offering a third variant which sits in between the existing two; you can now get the 12R with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage for Rs. 42,999. Essentially, more storage but without committing to more RAM - ideal for file hoarders who may not need to multi-task.
It's also worth pointing out that the OnePlus 12R has a RAM extension feature built into the software, which lets the smartphone 'borrow' idle storage space to use as RAM in certain situations. Even then, you'll likely find 8GB of RAM to be more than enough for most smartphone requirements. Obviously, the more RAM the better in the long run, so consider the 16GB RAM variant if you can get to that price point.
OnePlus also launched the Genshin Impact Edition of the 12R at MWC 2024, so there are plenty of options and specific variants to choose from if you're considering this phone. The OnePlus 12R is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor from 2023, but thanks to its price tag of under Rs. 50,000 even for the top-end variant, it's a serious contender for buyers who want a premium phone but don't necessarily want to spend flagship bucks.
