PlayStation 5 Pro can run games at 60FPS with ray tracing

That’s about it…

The technical presentation hosted by Mark Cerny for the PlayStation 5 Pro was very short but we managed to scoop out some bits. Firstly, the PlayStation 5 Pro has a beefier GPU that is 45% faster with 67% more compute units and 28% faster RAM.

The larger GPU delivers better Ray Tracing that can target 60FPS for games like Spider-Man 2, The Last of Us, Dragon's Dogma 2, Ghost of Tsushima, Hogwarts Legacy, Gran Turismo 7, Horizon Forbidden West and some more. Cerny also spoke about the PSSR which uses AI for upscaling the picture quality and maintaining peak performance. PSSR is similar to Nvidia’s DLSS and AMD’s FSR upscaling tech.

Indian prices are not announced yet but for $699 you get a 2TB SSD, a controller and no disc-drive! PlayStation says you can add a disc drive later if you want but you have to buy that separately.

The PS5 Pro also gets Game Boost feature which applies to more than 8,500 backward compatible PS4 games now playable on PS5 Pro. According to PlayStation, this feature may stabilise or improve the performance of supported PS4 and PS5 games.

Lastly, the PS5 Pro gets Wi-Fi 7 along with 8K gaming. We’re not sure which games will support 8K gaming but we’ll find out when the console hits the markets on November 7, 2024.
