Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 features on-device AI capabilities and real-time hardware-accelerated Ray Tracing

Poco F6 5G will be the first smartphone to be powered by the SoC

Qualcomm has launched its latest flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, in India. The chipset introduces on-device generative AI capabilities, supporting up to 10 billion parameters. And, facilitates multi-modal models, encompassing over 30 large language models (LLMs) like Gemini Nano, Llama 2, and Baichuan-7B and extensive vision models (LVMs).

The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 shares the architecture of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset but with a distinct clock speed. Its octa-core CPU consists of a Prime Core running at 3.0 GHz, four performance cores at 2.8 GHz, and three efficiency cores at 2.0 GHz. Built on a 4 nm process, this chipset supports LPDDR5X memory, UFS 4.0 storage, up to a 144Hz Quad HD+ display, and Qualcomm Quick Charge 5.

Furthermore, Qualcomm promises a "hyper-realistic" gaming experience courtesy of Snapdragon Elite Gaming, featuring real-time hardware-accelerated Ray Tracing and Adreno Frame Motion Engine 2. With the Cognitive ISP, you can explore advanced photography features such as Photo Expansion and Snapdragon Low Light Vision (LLV), all while benefiting from the convenience of “always-sensing” facial unlock.

The chipset also features the Snapdragon Sound Technology Suite, providing high-definition, lossless sound, along with Qualcomm Aqstic Speaker Max Technology, Qualcomm aptX Lossless, and LE Audio with Auracast broadcast audio.

Qualcomm and Poco have confirmed that the upcoming Poco F6 5G will be the first smartphone in India to be powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC. The Poco F-series phone is set to launch on May 23 and will be available for purchase through Flipkart.
