Realme Buds Air 7 Pro TWS review

Hear it all, hear it well

₹ 4,999

Realme’s dropping the Buds Air 7 Pro, their latest TWS headset and the successor to last year’s Buds Air 6 Pro, alongside the GT7. These promise to not just be an iterative update; the headset packs a serious punch with some genuinely innovative features, particularly for the price point.

With a headline-grabbing 53dB real-time noise cancellation, an advanced 11+6mm Dual-DAC driver system and hi-res audio support with LDAC, the Buds Air7 Pro is clearly aiming for a premium experience without demanding a premium price. But do these on-paper specs translate into real-world brilliance? Let's find out.

Design and specifications

The Realme Buds Air 7 Pro maintains a sleek, refined aesthetic. The charging case and earbuds feature an aviation-grade aluminium build, lending a distinctly premium and durable feel in the hand. Available in Metallic Grey, Glory Beige, Racing Green, and Fiery Red, the compact case fits comfortably in your pocket.

The earbuds themselves sport a classic stem design, proving to be lightweight and comfortable for prolonged listening sessions. While they stayed securely in my ears for most casual use, more vigorous activities like jogging or working out did occasionally require a slight readjustment.

Durability is sorted with an IP55 rating for dust and water resistance (for the earbuds), meaning sweat from workouts or a sudden downpour won't be an issue. Connectivity is handled by the latest Bluetooth 5.4, ensuring rock-solid stability and efficiency. Connecting to Bluetooth is incredibly easy – a simple, fuss-free process every time.

One of the standout conveniences comes from the controls. The touch controls are very convenient and precise, a welcome change from other buds where accidental touches often lead to unwanted pauses or skips while simply readjusting. A clever sliding gesture even lets you control the volume directly on the earbuds, which is incredibly handy. What’s more, the buds smartly pause the song on their own if one is removed and automatically play again once both are put back in – a seamless feature that works perfectly with music apps like Spotify.

The Buds Air7 Pro function as an audio interface for AI translation features. These features, including AI Live Translator, Face to Face Translator, and AI Inquiry, are part of the phone's functionality. They work with Gemini on the phone, particularly realme phones, when connected through the realme Link app. These phone-based features support 32 foreign languages. The realme Link app (Android/iOS) also provides customizable controls, EQ settings, and firmware updates for the earbuds.

Under the hood, Realme has gone all out with an 11+6mm driver system with dual-DAC capabilities. This advanced setup, combined with Hi-Res certification, promises a more detailed and expansive soundstage than your average true wireless earphones.

Performance and battery life

The sound quality is nothing short of amazing and crisp. When listening to music on Spotify, I found the sound to be incredibly good, allowing me to make out every intricate detail. In some cases, I even heard nuances in tracks I hadn't noticed before, which is a testament to the clarity provided by that 11+6mm Dual-dac Driver and Hi-Res support with LDAC.

The bass is satisfyingly deep and controlled, while the highs are crisp, maintaining definition without harshness. The overall sound signature is dynamic and rich, with a good sense of space thanks to the 3D Spatial Sound Effect. Gamers will also appreciate the 45ms ultra-low latency, ensuring audio syncs perfectly with on-screen action.

The 53dB real-time noise cancellation works relatively well. While it doesn't completely remove all sounds, it's effective at reducing lighter, persistent ambient noises. It makes daily commutes, like train rides, significantly more bearable by cutting out much of the background hum.

However, it's worth noting that it doesn't completely block your surroundings, meaning you retain some awareness even with ANC on. This leads me to talk about the Transparent Mode, which lets you keep a better measure of your surroundings – though given the ANC's mild nature, the difference isn't always dramatic.

Call quality is solid, too, with six-mic AI noise cancellation working overtime to keep your voice clear even in challenging environments. I was also hugely impressed by the Bluetooth range. I could keep my phone on one end of a large house and walk to the other end with very rare drops in audio quality, which speaks volumes about its robust connectivity.

Battery life is phenomenal in real-world usage. After daily listening, it took a remarkable 14 days of continuous usage before the case reached 10 percent battery. The individual buds themselves have enough stamina to easily last a whole day of listening. Plus, when you connect via Bluetooth, the battery levels of both the case and each individual bud are conveniently displayed, so you're never left guessing.

Realme's claim of over 80 percent battery health even after 1000 charging cycles is a helpful reassurance for long-term durability. Plus, a quick 10-minute charge gives you an impressive 11 hours of playback, which is convenient.

Verdict

The Realme Buds Air7 Pro emerges as a true standout in the TWS market, delivering a feature set and performance that defies its price tag. The genuinely effective ANC, coupled with the dual-driver system and LDAC support provides a listening experience that rivals much more expensive options.

However, with phenomenal real-world battery longevity, robust IP55 durability, convenient controls, and premium design, the Realme Buds Air7 Pro is a great option if you're looking for high-end features and performance without the high-end price.
