After teasing the gamers worldwide with a glimpse at its latest range of its gaming computers during CES 2024, Lenovo has now treated us to a closer look at the devices. The Lenovo Legion 9i is the top-tier flagship gaming device from Lenovo. It comes with a range of premium features. This device is powered by the 14th-gen Intel Core i9-14900HX CPU and can be configured with up to Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 mobile GPU. It also features Lenovo's upgraded LA3-P AI chip, which is said to optimise power distribution between the CPU and GPU based on your current computer activities.
The laptop has a 16-inch 3.2K Mini LED display with a resolution of 3200 x 2000. With a refresh rate of 165 Hz and a response time of just 3 ms, lenovo says this display could take your gaming experience a notch higher. The display's peak brightness of 1200 nits ensures vivid details even in bright environments, and its VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certification guarantees a decent HDR experience. It also supports Dolby Vision and Nvidia G-Sync.
The Lenovo Legion 9i is also touted to be the World's First Liquid Cooled Laptop, featuring the Legion Coldfront Liquid internal cooling system. Designed to handle more than just gaming, this system can dissipate over 230 watts of heat efficiently. The laptop utilises a water cooler and die-cast components co-engineered with Cooler Master. When the GPU temperature surpasses 84°C, the liquid pump kicks in to provide additional cooling for optimal performance.
It comes with a 5600 Mhz Dual Channel DDR5 memory, available in either 64GB or 32GB configurations. Storage options include PCIe SSD (Gen4) up to 2TB, with a RAID 0 1TB + 1TB setup for fast data access. The laptop is fueled by a high-capacity 99.99Whr battery with Super Rapid Charge, capable of charging from 0 to 70% in just 30 minutes and fully charging in 80 minutes as per Lenovo. Plus, it comes with a 330W Slim Adapter and 140W Type-C Power Delivery for quick and convenient charging.
The Lenovo's Legion lineup also includes the Legion 7i, which features an AI chip supporting scenario detection, smart FPS increases, and smart control, accessible through Lenovo Vantage software for customised performance optimisation. The new Legions also has the "Coldfront: Hyper" cooling solution to maintain optimal temperatures during intense gaming sessions.
It offers a range of Intel CoreTM 14th Gen processors, including the i9-14900HX1 and i7-14700HX models. Graphics options include the Nvidia GeForce RTXTM 4070, 4060, and 4050 Laptop GPUs, offering varying levels of performance with up to 8GB of GDDR6 memory and boost clocks up to 2370MHz. The laptop features a 16-inch 3.2K IPS panel with a 165Hz refresh rate, 100% DCI-P3 coverage, and Dolby Vision support. Other features include X-Rite Color Management, Nvidia G-Sync, and Advanced Optimus technology for an enhanced visual experience.
The Legion 5i shares many features and specifications with the Legion 7i but differs in the display panel, a smaller 80Whr battery, and the AI chipset, which is the LA1.
The Legion Pro 7i stands out with its "Coldfront: Vapour" thermal solution, ensuring cool temperatures even with up to an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU with a 250W TDP. It also features the LA2-Q+LA1 AI chipset, powering Lenovo AI Engine+ for software machine learning via Lenovo Vantage, allowing for monitoring of in-game FPS and dynamic adjustments to power routing and fan curves for optimal performance.
