MediaTek Dimensity 9300 SoC is said to maximise smartphone performance and efficiency

Leaner, meaner, and more efficient?

Mediatek has dropped their freshest mobile processor, the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 SoC. This chip comes with a new CPU setup, promising advancements in AI processing, graphics performance, and display quality. It's built on TSMC's third-generation 4nm process technology, and is set to fuel the next generation of top-tier Android smartphones.

The Dimensity 9300 brings a new CPU configuration to the table, featuring a single powerhouse core – the Cortex-X4, at 3.25GHz. Alongside that, you've got 3x Cortex-X4 cores and 4x Cortex-A720 cores to handle the heavy lifting. Mediatek says it boasts a 33 percent boost in power savings compared to its predecessor, the Dimensity 9200 and delivers 40 percent improvement in multi-core performance.

The MediaTek CPU, crafted using TSMC's advanced 3rd generation 4nm chip production process, also marks the debut of Arm's 12-core Immortalis-G720 MC13 GPU. This GPU packs hardware-based ray tracing for an enhanced gaming experience. Plus, it is claimed to be 46 percent more potent than the previous model. And, it's also touted as a champ in energy efficiency, sipping up to 40 percent less. With enhanced AI capabilities and an upgraded AI processing unit (APU 790), it can handle demanding AI tasks with ease, Mediatek says.

Further, the Dimensity 9300 comes with support for the latest LPDDR5T RAM, clocking in at 9,600Mbps. When it comes to storage, it's got UFS 4.0 storage, which even features Multi-Circular Queue (MCQ) support for easy data handling. It also supports WQHD panels with a 180Hz refresh rate or 4K resolution at 120Hz. It even gets in on the dual-active display action. Plus, it's set for Google's Ultra HDR display format in Android 14. In terms of connectivity, the chipset continues to offer Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.
