Tissot is reintroducing an iconic design with the return of the RockWatch. Originally launched in 1985, this legendary timepiece is now available as a limited edition of 999 units, each featuring granite taken from Switzerland’s Jungfrau peak. The watch sports a 38mm stone case, nickel-finished hands, and a quartz movement.
Over time, Tissot grew the RockWatch collection to feature stones ranging from pink quartz to lapis lazuli. What started as a daring experiment eventually became a celebrated emblem of Swiss ingenuity. The 2025 RockWatch edition honours that heritage while adding contemporary refinements. The granite, sourced from the Jungfrau during alpine tunnel excavations, is first cut into large cylinders and then meticulously milled and polished to form the watch’s final 38mm case.
For the 2025 edition, Tissot even called back artisans who had worked on the original RockWatch, as hollowing out the granite to fit the movement demands extreme precision, one wrong move and the case could crack.
The iconic red and yellow trail-marker hands are swapped for elegant nickel-plated ones, giving the watch a more refined, contemporary feel. A domed sapphire crystal replaces the original mineral glass for enhanced clarity and scratch resistance.
Inside, a steel container secures the quartz movement, while the caseback is engraved with “Jungfrau – Top of Europe” along with the watch’s unique edition number. A soft black leather strap completes the ensemble. Each piece is presented in a collector’s box designed to mimic a granite block, paying homage to the raw material that inspired the original design.
The limited-edition RockWatch is priced at $1,225 (around Rs. 1,07,000).
