Urban Company is breaking (some important) barriers by making its platform accessible to individuals with visual impairments. Now, folks with visual impairment can book at-home services on the UC app using touch gestures. This works with 'Voice Over' on iOS and 'TalkBack' on Android, two popular screen reading software used by individuals with visual impairments.
UC has given its app a makeover to simplify navigation and service booking. The update includes audible descriptions for non-selectable elements, like text-on-image, ensuring that users with visual impairments can fully access and understand the app. Users can book services, choose specific time slots, and communicate with certified Urban Company professionals. To achieve this, Urban Company partnered with Mission Accessibility, an NGO dedicated to eliminating barriers for individuals with disabilities.
