X is spicing things up with a brand-new audio and video calls feature so you can now use the platform to have a chat or even a face-to-face video call. Many users have been getting a notification announcing the arrival of audio and video calling feature with the message "Audio and video calls are here!"
There's also a new toggle labeled "Enable audio and video calling" available within the app's settings. This toggle allows you to activate the feature and then pick with whom you're comfortable using it. You have options, including allowing audio and video calls from individuals in your address book, people you follow, verified users, or any combination of the three. To make a call, you’ll have to open a direct message (DM) with another user, click on the phone icon in the upper right corner of the screen, and then choose between an audio or video call. It's all about giving users control and flexibility.
While X hasn't made an official announcement regarding its launch, the company seems to have dropped a subtle hint with a post that says, "ready for it...?” Elon Musk has been dropping hints for a while about adding audio and video calls to the platform as part of his vision to turn it into an "everything app." He recently mentioned that this feature would be available on iOS, Android, Mac, and PC, and there would be "no phone number needed."
As of now, it's not entirely clear how widely X has rolled out audio and video calls, or if it's limited to Premium users. Keep circling back here to catch more updates and information on this development.
