Dyson Zone are noise-cancelling headphones that can also help you with air filtration

Multifunctional, you ask?

Dyson has dropped its widely-discussed and long-awaited Dyson Zone noise-cancelling headphones in India, starting for a base price ₹59,900. Dyson says it has noise cancellation, transparent mode and up to 50 hours of playtime among other features.

The Dyson Zone headphones can (of course) play tunes for you but it can also do a lot more. Need a hit of clean air while you rock out? No problem! You can attach a removable visor that shoots purified air right at your face. Inside each ear cup, mini compressors work their magic, pulling air through double-layer filters that are like tiny superheroes, capturing particles as small as 0.1 microns. And that's not all – activated carbon filters step in to tackle nasty gases like nitrogen dioxide from city smog. So, you get both an amazing sound and a breath of fresh air.

The headphones are equipped with lithium-ion batteries and employ a USB-C charging system. Plus, they boast a quick charging feature, fully replenishing the battery in just 3 hours, as per Dyson. The Zone is also touted to deliver up to 50 hours of distortion-free sound on a single charge. The headphones are fitted with a remarkable array of 11 microphones, with 8 dedicated to reducing environmental noise by an impressive 38dB while continuously monitoring the surrounding sounds at a staggering rate of 384,000 times per second.

Dyson also says the headphones’ comfort pads can “adapt perfectly to the shape of the ear of any owner” and are “designed to distribute weight evenly across both sides of the head.” The foam used in the pads are also of different types depending on their utility.

The MyDyson app offers comprehensive control over these headphones, allowing you to fine-tune your listening experience. Through the app, you can easily adjust parameters such as airflow speed and noise reduction mode. Additionally, you have the flexibility to tailor the audio equalisation according to your preferences, with three distinct modes available – Dyson EQ (enhanced), Bass Boost (focused on bass), and Neutral (providing a flatter response curve).

Furthermore, the app incorporates features related to hearing health. So you can choose to limit the volume based on hearing health recommendations, ensuring a safe listening experience. The app also includes onboard sensors for monitoring air quality, specifically NO2 levels, and provides real-time updates on ambient noise levels, offering a comprehensive control and monitoring system for the headphones.
