Fourth-generation Maruti Suzuki Swift comes with enhanced safety features and a more fuel-efficient engine

Starts at Rs 6.49 lakh

Maruti Suzuki has launched the latest Swift in India. With prices starting from ₹6.49 lakh to ₹9.65 lakh (ex-showroom), this new iteration comes with extra features, beefed-up safety measures, and a more fuel-savvy 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine.

The cabin features a 9-inch infotainment touchscreen, fresh fabric upholstery, redesigned air-con vents, updated HVAC switchgear, and a revamped analogue instrument cluster with a 4.2-inch digital MID. Even if you opt for the base model Swift LXI, you're in for a treat because it comes equipped with standard safety gear like six airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX anchors, rear parking sensors and ESC. However, hill start assist is exclusive to the automatic variants.

The introduction of the new Z12E engine, Maruti says, marks a significant improvement over the previous K12 unit in terms of fuel efficiency, achieving an average of around 24.8kpl to 25.75kpl. The new 1.2-litre Z Series engine is available with both 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT gearbox options, delivering 82hp and 112Nm of peak torque. Maruti also claims that the new Swift emits up to 12 percent less CO2 emissions.

Design-wise, the new Swift maintains its signature language while incorporating several noticeable updates. These include a redesigned front bumper, a refreshed radiator grille, reshaped headlights and fog lights, new alloy wheel designs, and updated tail-lamps with a distinctive C-shaped pattern. Despite retaining the same wheelbase as its predecessor, the new Swift has slightly increased dimensions, being longer, narrower, and taller.

The car is offered in a range of nine exterior colour options, including the introduction of two new vibrant shades of blue and red. Maruti has also introduced the Racing Roadstar and Thrill Chaser accessory packages for the Swift, which provide sporty cosmetic enhancements for both the interior and exterior of the vehicle.
