Garmin’s GPS-based cycling computers Edge 540 and 840 can be your trusty co-pilot on every ride

Garmin has launched its latest GPS cycling computers - the Edge 540 and Edge 840 Series. The devices are designed for tracking your performance and helping you achieve your fitness goals. With a wide range of performance-based training metrics, you'll probably be cycling circles around the competition in no time. And, there is enhanced navigational support – because let's face it getting lost on a bike ride is so last season.

Devices in both the series are powered by Firstbeat Analytics so you'll get the lowdown on everything from your VO2 max to your recovery time. And, if you're rocking a Garmin smartwatch, you'll have access to a whole new level of wellness insights. Pulse Ox, Body Battery energy monitoring, advanced sleep tracking, it's almost like having a doctor on your wrist (minus the white coat and stethoscope, of course).

Plus, with in-ride notifications, you'll not have to worry about bonking or dehydrating mid-ride. Because knowing how your body is handling different environments is key to keeping those legs pumping, especially when the hills start to get steep.

Both Edge 540 and Edge 840 series devices feature button controls that work in any riding environment and a 2.6-inch colour display. Additionally, the Edge 840 series computers come with a responsive touchscreen. Plus, both the series have solar models that, as per Garmin, offer up to 32 hours of battery life in demanding use or up to 60 hours in battery saver mode. 

Edge 540 and 840 Series also offer built-in safety and tracking features like LiveTrack and group messaging for all cycling activities, including mountain biking. The devices are also compatible with Varia cycling radars. As for price, the Edge 540 comes at a starting price of ₹35,990 and the Edge 840 comes at a starting price of ₹45,990.
