MWC 2024: The best from the annual tech show!

A Barbie phone, a transparent laptop, a bendable bracelet smartphone, what else could one ask for, after all?

MWC brings some of the best tech from world-renowned brands. And we get the hot-tech straight to you. But we understand keeping track of everything announced at the MWC 2024 can be daunting so we have compiled a list that will keep you updated with all the hot launches and unique devices marking their presence at the MWC 2024. Read on.

HMD’s Barbie Phone

HMD is collaborating with Mattel to launch a Barbie feature flip phone. It’ll be coming this summer, will obviously be pink, and is being touted as a digital detox device. That’s all we know. The only pictures of all the teased phones were pixelated. HMD also had a big focus on repairability—it expects half of its devices launched globally this year to be repairable. But this summer, it says it will have a system that dramatically reduces the number of steps it takes to fix a cracked screen.

Motorola’s Bendable phone

Motorola brings to MWC 2024 a smartphone that can bend and be worn on your wrist as a smartwatch. Its a concept phone with a 6.9-inch screen. It can also morph into a tent for gaming sessions or prop itself up with a simple bend. The orange fabric backing and magnetic clasp aim to keep it from becoming a wrist-tossing disaster. OnePlus Watch 2

The new, second gen smartwatch by Oneplus is remarkably better than the original. It’s got two operating systems run by two processors. It’s a Google Wear OS smartwatch, and this OS is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chipset. Then there’s the Real-Time Operating System (RTOS), which is run by an ultra low-power BES2700 chip. You can read more about it here.

Lenovo Transparent Laptop

Lenovo came to MWC 2024 with a transparent laptop, (concept of course). The brand is basically showing off what a transparent laptop would be like, and it’s hard to say it doesn’t look futuristic. The Micro-LED transparent screen lets you see through it. The laptop has a 17.3-inch bezel-less display (55 percent transparency). It also sports a transparent keyboard area, showcasing a floating footpad design. It uses laser projection to display keys when needed, and it can even transform into a sketch pad with stylus support, adding a creative twist to your work. Read more here.

Samsung Galaxy Ring

Samsung unveiled its Galaxy Ring to much fanfare at its Galaxy Unpacked event last month, but then provided almost zero details about it. And at MWC it was teased a bit more because not much information was revealed about it. You can read it here.

Xiaomi SU7

Xiaomi’s debut electric vehicle, the SU7 sedan found a rather highlighted spot at the Mobile World Congress 2024. Sporting an Aqua Blue hue, this car is a real looker to begin with. On the inside, you'll find a 16.1-inch 3K central console, a 56-inch head-up display, a 7.1-inch rotating dashboard, and cross-device connectivity. Xiaomi's touch extends to the integration of their upcoming HyperOS into the SU7. The operating system enhances the Smart Cabin experience by integrating the central console and HUD. Powered by a Snapdragon 8295 in-car chip and AI computing power of up to 30 TOPS, this is an example of the ‘Human x Car x Home’ smart ecosystem. Read more about it here.

Tecno Phantom Ultimate

Tecno Phantom Ultimate is a concept phone that has a rollable display. It features a 6.55-inch OLED display in its closed state and when you press the dedicated button on the top, the screen expands sideways, revealing a hidden section and transforming into a 7.11-inch tablet-sized display using a single-drive motor. The back has a textured matte finish, providing a better grip, which (of course) is crucial when holding the phone in its expanded state. Read more about it here

Tecno Pocket Go

Tecno’s first handheld console, the Pocket Go is also touted as the ’world's first AR gaming set’. The Pocket Go is an AR gaming set, pairing a wireless controller with the ‘AR Pocket Vision’ glasses. The Windows-based system has a wireless controller that borrows some design cues from Xbox. Tecno claims it's 50% smaller and 30% lighter than other Windows handhelds, so we wonder if big things can truly come in small packages. Under the hood, the Pocket Go features an AMD Ryzen 7 8840 HS processor clocked at 5.1GHz, backed by 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. And to prevent overheating during intense battles, Tecno has equipped it with a cooling fan and a trio of copper heat pipes. Read here.
