Apple Watch’s extreme sports model will possibly be dubbed the ‘Pro’

This is your warning to brace those pockets for heavy impact.

Rumour on the street, courtesy of Mark Gurman’s latest Power On newsletter, Apple watch’s rugged model might be called Pro. With a more advanced tracking system for swimming and trekking paired with longer battery life and a bulkier, more durable shell built of high-end, non-aluminium metal composition, it is believed to have everything it needs to be dubbed the “Pro”.

Gurman thinks this move will help Apple expand its line of professional products, which already includes the MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, iPhone Pro, and AirPods Pro. The selling point mentioned might be similar to the one used to promote the current iPhone 13 Pro over the standard iPhone 13.

This upcoming Apple Watch Pro could also have the new body temperature sensor in addition to the S8 chip, which already exists on the Apple Watch Series 7 and Series 6 versions. He also believes that Apple will transition from the gold Apple Watch to the stainless steel and titanium options making a more durable Apple Watch. This will also signal the end of the Apple Watch Edition models.

Additionally, if the Lockdown Mode in iOS 16 is any indication, Apple won’t hesitate to include more functionality in its upcoming operating systems than was anticipated, with watchOS 9 in the works. Better prepare those pockets, because Gurman believes that the slightly larger display paired with the additional sensors and higher-end materials might raise Apple’s price point closer to $900 (₹70,000 approx.)
